Hold'Em Help
Excerpted from Penthouse Magazine June 2005
Ask anyone what the best training software for poker players is, and you'll get one answer: Wilson's.
For 12 years, the company has been churning out no-frills, high-octane code
to help players get to the top of a half-dozen poker games: Turbo Texas Hold'em,
Tournament Texas hold'em, Turbo seven-card stud, Turbo stud eight or better, Turbo
Omaha high, and Turbo Omaha high-low split.
There's an exhaustive CD-ROM devoted to each, and each game can be fine-turned
to the grittiest detail. Play against two to ten competitors, and select how tight
or loose you want the game to be. Unlike some simulators, these computer players
behave as unpredictably as real ones, betting, folding, raising on the fly. If
you're feeling stumped, consult Sidewinder Sid, a poker coach (optional for Turbo
Texas Hold'em).
Each (Turbo) game also sports obsessively detailed analysis and charts of starting hands, best hand distribution, and best hand win rate. We suspect you'll win back the $89.95 price after a few late poker nights.
